Self Defence – Escape to control/choke from headlock. Attacker comes from behind on your left side and places you in a headlock with their right arm, and punches your head with the left. Immediately bring up your right arm to block the punches. Don’t aim to block the fist, it’s too fast, block the forearm/bicep. Use the block to push the arm into the opponents body, and reaching around their back with your left arm make a paddle grip to lock it and save yourself from punches. Turn your head in, and grab the wrist holding your head with your right hand. Look up, posture up, and use your whole back and legs to straighten up and break the headlock. Duck the head out, and then punch the right arm up behind the back for an arm lock. Kick or push behind the knee then set up a rear naked choke with the left arm, then lock it in with the right.
Technique 1 – Cross collar choke from mount. Using the left hand, grab the lapel on your left and open it up. Slide your right hand along the lapel you’ve just opened, all the way till you’re holding the collar behind the head. Your right hand should be on the left side of the neck from your point of view. Make a fist and ensure the blade of the wrist is against the throat. Reach high with the left hand to base out. Once safe slide the left elbow to the right side of the neck from your point of view. With the elbow in the crook of the neck, slide/grind your forearm along the neck until the hand can make a grip on the gi and secure the choke. Lean towards the top hand, so to your right, and place your head on the mat while tightening to finish.
Technique 2 – Was to be from mount, letting the bottom person turn to take the back. Ended up drilling letting the bottom person rotate along the mat with the top person going from mount, to technical mount, to back, to technical mount, back to mount.
Take down – Clinch to back take, to take down. From the clinch, right hand behind the opponents head, and your left holding the opponents right arm which will be holding your head. Switch the left hand to the inside of the opponents arm. Raise your right elbow to raise their arm and swim under for an under hook. Move around to take the back and use a gabel grip to lock around the opponents hip and off balance them. Bump from behind and fall to their back for the take down.
Technique 1 – Head and arm choke from mount. From mount, grip behind the opponents head with the right arm and drop the elbow into the sternum to break posture and weaken the arms. Drive the left knee up to level with the opponents ear. Use the torso to push the right arm across the face. Reach behind the head with the left arm to lock up the gift wrap. Push the elbow with the right hand to force the opponent onto their side and enter technical mount. With the space created reach around behind the neck with the right arm, and use your head to lock the arm that is gift wrapped. Push the opponent back down to regular mount. Ratchet the right arm tighter. Pinch the knees and and feet. Keeping the feet pinched, lift the knees up, and grind the right knee across the belly. You should be laying next to the opponent. Set up an s grip with the left hand and adjust to lock in the choke.
Technique 2 – 2 chokes and an arm bar from mount. From mount, grip behind the opponents head with the right arm and drop the elbow into the sternum to break posture and weaken the arms. Drive the left knee up to level with the opponents ear. Use the torso to push the right arm across the face. Reach behind the head with the left arm to lock up the gift wrap. Push the elbow to turn the opponent on their side to get technical mount. Push the left hand through to get the forearm on the neck, and put the right forearm across the top of the neck. Push with the right, and pull with the left to choke, aiming for the arteries. Alternatively From technical mount reach under the opponents left arm and lock it for an arm bar. Reach under the neck with the left arm and push back reaching towards their elbow. If you can get a deep enough grip you can choke from here. Otherwise swing the left leg around to frog squat, and slide back intoa tight arm bar.
